Barbara Jean White, age 74, of Lusby, MD since 2001 and formerly of Huntingtown, MD, died January 19, 2009 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, MD. She was born April 4, 1934 in Wilson, NC, and raised in Washington, D.C. where she attended public school.

She married Charles Alvin "Al" White on September 3, 1950, and they resided in Temple Hills and Forestville before moving to Calvert County in 1967.

Jean was a dietician at Calvert County Nursing Center for many years, and helped set up the delicatessen service at Bowen's Grocery where she also worked until retiring in the mid 1990's. Jean was a founding member of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and an E.M.T. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, cooking and playing Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al on December 16, 1999.

She is survived by daughters Brenda Lavato (Anthony), Cynthia Harrington (Timothy), Rebecca Wathen (Ronald) and Laura White (Kerrin); sons Charles White, Jr. and William Dean White (Jeanie); 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Jesse "Dick" Jones and Howard Jones (Jeanette); a sister Marjorie Mozingo; sister-in-law Beverly White, and a cousin Gladys Goodrick.
