John Alexander "Jack" Hoover, 81, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2022 at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. He was born on October 29, 1940 in Olney, MD to the late William A. Hoover and Jenouise (Varney) Hoover.

After graduating high school, Jack would go on to enlist in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and returned home. Jack met the love of his life Peggy Ann and they've been married for over sixty (60) years. They welcomed three wonderful children, Douglas, Craig and Susan.

A kind and caring man, Jack was the patriarch of his family. He was the man you went to for an honest opinion or advice. He was simple in his approach to life and made sure those around him knew how much he cared. On a warm day he could be found dropping a hook in the water as much to catch a fish as just to sit back and watch the water lap against the shore. He found peace in the quiet beauty of fishing and shared that joy with his kids and grandchildren. A true treasurer hunter, Jack enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales to find something to add to his collection. He didn't consider himself a pack rat, but a collector of many treasurable items.

The legacy Jack leaves behind will be filled with laughter, love and pride. A great man has left many to remember the kindness and generosity of his soul. If you knew him, you know you were blessed to be surrounded by his bigger than life personality. Let us all remember the man who made our life better and pray for the family he leaves behind.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Ann Hoover of Charlotte Hall, MD; children, Douglas Hoover (Victoria) of Coltons Point, MD, Susan Hoover of Mechanicsville, MD and daughter-in-law, Wanda Hoover of Mechanicsville, MD; two (2) grandchildren, John Wood, IV and Douglas Hoover, Jr; four (4) great-grandchildren, Dougie, Mason, Audrina and Jason Jr.; and brother, Jerry Hoover. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jenouise Hoover; son, Craig Hoover; grandson, Jason Hoover; and siblings, Skip and Jim Hoover.

The family will receive friends for Jack's Visitation on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Pastor Dave Huffman at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will follow immediately at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20602.
