Ella Lilly Christina Anderson Lawrence, 95, of La Plata, formerly of Hallandale, FL, died Thursday, January 15, at Genesis Waldorf.

A lifelong resident of Hallandale, she moved to La Plata in 2001 to be near family.

She worked as a homemaker, community activist, and Church volunteer for many years. Her food pantry and many other community efforts eared her the Volunteer of the Year for Broward County, FL in 1995. She was also an active member of the woman's group of the local Moose Lodge. She served as Chaplin and was awarded the Academy of Friendship.

Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and many church activities at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Born August 26, 1913, in Hallandale, FL, she was the daughter of Edwin and Hilma Anderson. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jack Lawrence.

She is survived by her daughters, Lavette Knapp and her husband Earle; Christine Grice and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Scott Knapp and his wife Andrea; Leslie Weingarden and her husband Josh, Marielle Charette; Celene Kane and her husband Travis; and great-grandchildren Seth and Sara Weingarden and Madison Kane.

A service will be held at Raymond Funeral Chapel, January 19, at 10AM. The Rev. Craig Endicot will officiate. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later time in Hallandale, FL.
