Beverly Helen (Bergstrom) Porter, 74, of Solomons, Md., passed into the arms of Jesus on January 26, 2022. She was surrounded by her husband, David, and her two sons, Jonathan and Chris.

Beverly lived a life filled with a love of family and friends, a love of science and of service, and most of all, a love of Jesus. With a passion for learning, teaching, and nurturing, she constantly desired to see more of God's design and live as a winsome witness for Him.

Born outside of Pittsburgh in McKeesport, PA in 1947, she grew up being nurtured in life and faith by her parents Helen and Arnie Bergstrom – a teacher and an engineer – and in every stage of her life she discovered and explored God's design in nature and in Scriptures.

Bev explored "inner space" and conducted pioneering research using an electron microscope to discover new parts of cells' structures, having obtained degrees from Penn State University (BS), Peabody College in Nashville (MS), and the University of North Carolina (PhD). Her exploration of God's Word led her to participate in numerous Bible studies and churches through the years, where she made many close friends and eventually met her husband, David, where they taught Sunday School together. Bev and Dave were married in April 1977, and were blessed to have two sons – Jonathan and Chris.

As a mother, Bev found joy in raising two strong Christian men – who also ministered to her throughout her life; sharing her love of cooking – especially her family's traditional Swedish Christmas Smorgasbord; teaching at numerous Bible studies everywhere she lived; and playing her flute for many church services – including The Messiah and other services where Jonathan was the Music Director. And in each activity, she learned more about what it means for God to love us and discovered new ways to show His love to others.

Her constant desire was to see how God designed and worked through each of us and through His Word, and to show how "all the Scriptures" spoke of salvation through Jesus. Her desire is that all who knew her would experience the envelopment of God's love, as she did, and be with her forever with Jesus!

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Patuxent Presbyterian Church, 23421 Kingston Creek Road, California, MD 20619 with Rev. Matthew Pooley officiating.
