Virginia Rose Brickey, 81, of Owings, passed away January 15, 2022 at Calvert Health Medical Center. She was born March 19, 1940 in Washington, D.C., to Virgie Frances McDermott and William Daniel Woodard. Virginia graduated from Suitland High School class of 1957, and went on to work as a secretary for Prince George's County Office of Finance. She was one of the founding members of Dunkirk Baptist Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed crocheting blankets, playing Bingo at the Optimist Club, bowling 10-pin and Duckpin, researching her genealogy, rooting on her favorite NASCAR driver, Kurt Busch, watching her beloved Redskins football, and reading a good book – especially one by her favorite author, Clive Cussler –in her spare time. Virginia competed in and often won countless Powder Puff demolition derbies for over fifteen years, and she loved to travel by car—she had even planned to take a trip to Mount Rushmore this summer. She is a beautiful and amazing woman who will be missed greatly by her family.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Bonnie Robey of Owings, sons William Brickey of Huntingtown, and Michael Brickey (Alison) of Mt. Airy; grandchildren Dave, Nichole, Jessica, Khristopher, Kelly, Kevin, Sara, Chloe, Anthony, and Matthew, as well as nine great-grandchildren, her brother William, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Winford, her daughter Elaine Graham, her parents William and Virgie, and her sisters, Gloria and Sharon.
