Patricia Catherine Bowen, 75, of Lusby, MD died January 10, 2009 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. She was born May 19,1933 in the borough of Manhattan, NY to the late John and Catherine Riordan.

Patricia also known as, Patsy, Pat, Grandma, and Miss Pat moved from New York to Calvert County in 1954. That same year she married Kenneth H. Bowen. She worked at Calvert Memorial Hospital from 1960 to 1972. From 1972 to 1994, Patricia worked as a unit-clerk in the "Short Stay Surgical Center" at Prince Georges Hospital, until her retirement. She was a devoted foster mother to many of Calvert's youth for many years.

In addition, Patricia served as a volunteer for Safe Harbor and as a member of the Senior Council for the Southern Pines Senior Center. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her friends, working with ceramics, and reading. Most importantly, Patricia enjoyed being apart of the busy lives of her teenage grandchildren and their friends. She was better known as "Grandma" to all of the young people who frequented her home. She enjoyed talking with them about their plans for the future and always offered her words of wisdom. She truly cared for all of them as they were her own.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and daughters Catherine Bowen and Linda Ann Page.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Kay Haines and her husband Kevin ; son-in-law, Robert J. Page; sisters Mary H. Buckler, Margaret N. Quade and Theresa E. Zapor ; brothers Kevin P. Riordan and Francis J. Riordan and grandchildren, Kenneth J. Frank, Kristen E. Page, Kevin P. Haines , Jordan A. Haines and Kayleigh A. Haines . She is also survived by two nieces, four nephews and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday January 16, 2009 from 2 - 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM in the Rausch Funeral Home, Lusby , MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 17,2009 at 11AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Solomons, MD with Father Richard Gardiner officiating. Interment will be private.
