Jean Marie Valenta, 75, of La Plata, Maryland, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata.

Born on July 30, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, she was the daughter of the late William H. Sandweg Jr. and Rose Marie Sandweg. A homemaker and mom, Jean enjoyed cooking, reading, bird watching, train watching, traveling, vacationing at the Outer Banks, and being with her family. She was very active with Pets on Wheels and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata.

Jean is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank J. Valenta; children Karen Valenta Talbot (Ret), John Valenta, and Gregory Valenta (Jenn); siblings Frances Anne Canavan, William H. Sandweg III (Jeannie), John Sandweg (Trish), and Robert Sandweg (Linda), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Due to the current pandemic circumstances, the family is wishing to have a private period of mourning with a celebration of Jean's life at a later date and time to be announced. The family regrets not being able to share your friendship and physical comfort at this time, but it is their hope that all that will change in the near future.
