James Leo "Jim" McCoy, 71, of Chaptico, MD formerly of Darwin, MN died January 12, 2009 at his residence. Born May 19, 1937 in Darwin, MN he was the son of the late Charles and Jette Keigan McCoy.

He was the loving husband of Patricia Lynn McCoy of Chaptico, MD.

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer McCoy of Lutsen, MN and his brothers Harold McCoy of Cold Spring, MN and Charles McCoy of Citrus Hills, FL.

Jim graduated from Darwin High School "Class of 1955" and attended Charles County Community College. He was a security specialist for the Department of Defense for 23 years until his retirement in June 2007 and he also served in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed playing golf, baseball, doing yard work, watching NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM with Rev. Joe Orlando officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Pallbearers will be David Delozier, Daniel Delozier, Cory Friest, Johnny Joy, Larry Joy and Ronnie Joy.
