On November 30, 2021, Lauren Jean "Lorie" Wilson passed away after an unexpected illness. Lorie was raised in District Heights, but moved her family to Southern Maryland in the early 1980's. She spent some of her life with her feet in the sand in Delaware and Ocean City while visiting with family and friends. Lorie also enjoyed camping and gardening both flowers and vegetables. She had completed raised vegetable beds at her new home adorned with her grandchildren's painted handprints. She got a thrill out of getting together with her former Suitland High School classmates, known as the "Suitland Sisters". Her heart was fulfilled with her nurturing nature as she cared for any and all animals. Her careful manner began when she was a young child rescuing found cats and dogs. Her true love was in her family. She adored every one of them and thoroughly enjoyed cooking big meals and hosting everyone for the holidays. Lorie's legacy of love is carried on with her sons, Paul Thomas and his wife, Kristin, of Prince Frederick and Jason Kellam and his wife, Amanda, of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Maci Thomas, Jack Wasson, Pheobe Thomas, Hunter Kellam, and Axle Kellam; companion, Charles Wilson; siblings, Patricia Lukas of Burtonsville, Cynthia Stivers and her husband, Daniel, of Huntingtown, and Donna Ringgold and her husband, Wess of Ripley; her furry children, Jax and Nila; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Jean Carey, her sister, Elaine M. Carey, and her brother in law, Gary Lukas.
