Doris Marie (Proctor) Shirriel, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend quietly departed this life during the early hours of Friday, November 19, 2021 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born August 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John Oscar Proctor and the late Elizabeth Marie (Richardson) Proctor.

Doris lived in Maryland all her life and was educated in the Charles County school system.

She retired from CVS after 48 years of service where she made many lifelong friends (co-workers/customers) while working as a cashier and then promoted to photo supervisor.

Doris met and married her first love James Buster Swann, May 4, 1957, and together they had three daughters before his death May 6, 1960. Doris later met and married the love of her life Joseph Percell Shirriel, November 2, 1963, and together they had one son and two daughters. Doris was also blessed with Joseph Percell's daughter Tawanda.

She was our peacemaker, counselor, confidant, babysitter, chef, driver, and cheerleader. She loved taking care of her family, gardening, shopping, traveling, and watching TV. She was such a focal point for our daily lives that our world has been turned upside down, but our memories of her life with us will continue to guide us until we meet again.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Laura Proctor (David), Tawanda Bryant, Cindy Gross (Brian), Joe Shirriel Jr. (Brenda), Karen Chapman (Gil), DeeDee Patton (Zackery); 13 grandchildren, Aaron, Nicole (BJ); William, Michelle; Natasha (Mark), Brandon (Natalie); Daniel, Brandy; Ashley, Jordan; Ariele (Antoine), Joshua, Khali; 9 great granddaughters, La'Nya, Ahniyla, Skyla, Aubrey, Mackenzie, Kaylina, Savannah, Gabrielle and Elleri and her 1 great grandson, Trae. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her world. She always planned special events aimed at making each of them feel special.

Her sisters were her rock and best friends. Their love for each other was unconditional. They shared both their tears and joy throughout the years.

Doris had a heart of gold and tried to spread joy and friendship to everyone she met.
