Gertrude Maher Davey, 95, died January 3, 2009 at Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in LaPlata, MD. She was born November 20, 1913 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Patrick and Ann Merriam Maher.

She moved to the Washington, D.C. area in the mid-1940's, and married William F. Davey on June 14, 1947. They resided and raised their three sons in District Heights, MD where they were members of Mt. Calvary Catholic Church.

Mrs. Davey was a homemaker, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and vacationing at the beach. She and Mr. Davey were residents at the Calvert Pines in Prince Frederick from 1997 until 2005, and of the Morningside House assisted living facility in Waldorf from 2005 until his death in 2006.

Mrs. Davey had lived at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in LaPlata since 2006.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Francis Davey, Sr., and a sister Marian O'Brien. She is survived by sons William F. Davey, Jr. (Mary), John P. Davey (Ann Marie) and Thomas P. Davey (Nadia), grandchildren Jack Shoptaw (Theresa), Sean, Melissa, Kevin and Mark Davey (Laura), great-grandchildren Isabell and Reese Shoptaw.
