William "Jesse" Cooksey of Hughesville, Maryland died at his home on Monday, October 2, 2006. He was 94 years old.

Jesse worked in various stores and was assistant manager of Maryland Tobacco Growers until his retirement at age 70.

He will be most remembered for his wonderful personality and good nature and his love of gardening. He and his wife raised a two acre garden until his 90th birthday.

Mr. Cooksey was a native of Charles County and a World War II veteran. He was born April 7, 1912 to Samuel & Florence Cooksey. He graduated from La Plata High School in 1931.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Samuel L., Rudolph and Mark Cooksey; sisters Edna Roberts and Gwendolyn Walter.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Agnes Ruth Cooksey; daughter Mary Ruth (Cooksey) Snyder; granddaughter Jessica Erin Jolliffe; son-in-law Bob Snyder.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2006 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with service at 7:30PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd. Charlotte Hall, MD. The burial will be private.
