Georgia Lee (Miles) Hardesty, 84, of Huntingtown passed away October 23, 2021. She was born February 22, 1937 in Hillside, MD to Edgar S. and Marjorie B. (Jones) Miles. Georgia grew up in Hillside and attended Suitland High School. She married Maurice Hardesty in 1955 and they lived in Huntingtown. Georgia opened Hardesty Store in 1969 on the corner of Rt. 2 and Dalrymple Road. She owned and operated the country store with her husband for many years. Georgia was a former member of Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church and current member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She was a proud American who enjoyed duckpin bowling, dancing, attending bull roasts at the American Legion, country music, and the Washington Redskins. She always said she was a mother first, very proud of her children, and they never gave her any trouble. She will be greatly missed.
Georgia is survived by her children Maurice Hardesty and wife Cindy of Owings, Timothy Hardesty and wife Laura of Sunderland, Charles Michael Hardesty of Huntingtown, and Russell Hardesty of Huntingtown, grandchildren Tara, Mindy, Beau, Tabby, Josh, David, Amanda, Timmy Jr., Erin, and Emily, 18 great-grandchildren, and very special family member Linda Hardesty. She is also survived by brother Bucky Miles and wife Pat, sister Connie Haggard and husband Chuck, sister-in-law Sandy Miles, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Barbara, Charlotte, Jean, and Wilmer.
