Charles Raymond Saunders of Hollywood, Maryland died January 1, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. He was 76 years old.

Born February 29, 1932 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Raymond Adrian and Ethel Malloy Saunders.

He was a self-employed painter who enjoyed Budd's Creek Dirt Track Racing, working on cars, classic country music, westerns and scratch-offs. He was described as a real "character".

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Saunders; sisters, Margie Tomco and Barbara Workman; stepmother, Fern Saunders and son, Kenneth Saunders.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances Theresa Houser Saunders, sons, Bill D. Dillon (Michelle), Chuck Saunders (Tara), Matthew M. Dillon (Carolyn), Ray Saunders (Angie), Keith A. Saunders, Robert G. Saunders (Veronica) and daughter, Cindy P. Miller. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Saunders will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD with prayers recited at 7PM where Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11AM. Interment will follow at the Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
