![]() Anna Gertrude "Gertie" Guy Haden, 88, of Leonardtown, MD died December 24, 2008 in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD.
Born March 5, 1920 in Clements, MD, she was the daughter of the late Claude E. and Agnes Abell Guy. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Mary's Academy. She completed two years of secretarial school in Washington, D.C. She managed the Town Inn Restaurant in Leonardtown with her husband the late James Duvall Haden, Sr. from 1956 to 1966. Mrs. Haden then went to work at St. Mary's Hospital in 1966 until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Haden is survived by a son James Duvall Haden, Jr., of Oxon Hill MD, her grandchildren Michele L. Brinsfield and her husband Trae of Forest Hill, MD and Sue Cabus and her husband, Kamil of Oxon Hill, MD. Her great-grandchildren, Makenna and Blake Brinsfield of Forest Hill, MD and Kahn and Kenan Cabus of Oxon Hill, MD. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Emig of Leonardtown, MD, two brothers; Al Francis Guy of Clements, MD and George Guy of Leonardtown, MD and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in addition to her husband James Duvall Haden, Sr., her son Douglas C. Haden, Sr. and grandson, Douglas C. Haden, Jr., four sisters; Mary Agnes Hammett, Nellie G. Patrick, Claudia Yates and Laura Gass, four brothers; Frederick E. Guy, Charles P. "Wink" Guy, Stanton Guy and Byron Guy. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD with prayers recited at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD. The Reverend Keith Woods pastor of the church will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Francis Guy, Perry Guy, Lewis Yates, Dale Yates, Joseph Pingleton and George Burroughs serving as pallbearers.
