Robert Michael Ashby, 70, a longtime resident of North Beach passed away May 25, 2021 at his home. He was born September 4, 1950 in Washington, DC to Charles Luen Jr. and Grace Violet (Seitz) Ashby. Robert grew up in Riverdale and Bladensburg and attended Bladensburg High School. He married Barbara Black in 1975 and they made their home in North Beach for 40 years before Barbara passed away in 2014. Robert was employed as an auto mechanic at College Park Exxon for many years, retiring in 2013. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, auto racing and gambling.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Ashby and nephew Brian Matthew Ashby. He is survived by his children Lori Marie Ashby of Edgewater, Wayne Eugene Ashby of North Beach and Robert Michael Ashby II of Chattanooga, TN, granddaughter Sydney Lee Ashby, brothers Charles Luen Ashby III and his wife Doris of Waldorf and David Lee Ashby and his wife Nancy of Gaithersburg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
