Carolyn Louise Dougherty, 74, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 in Lusby, Maryland. She was born on November 21, 1946, in Washington D.C. to late John Linton and late Lucille Adie Linton. She was one (1) of six (6) children.

On September 5, 1964. Carolyn married the love of her life David A. Dougherty Sr., together they celebrated over 28 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in November 1992.

Carolyn was a hard-working woman, who worked in the deli at Food Lion for many years before her retirement. Her kindness made the customers comfortable and she had a genuine smile for everyone. It was not uncommon for people to form a meaningful bond with her upon first meeting. She loved helping families and putting a smile on everyone's face.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, taking them to the beach to look for shells and feel the sand under her feet. She always felt taking a deep breath of salty air and feeling the warmth of the sand made life a little better. Her favorite beach was Chincoteague VA and even before she'd left she would be planning the next trip.

Carolyn is survived by her children, David Dougherty of Florida, Daniel Dougherty of Hughesville, Maryland, James Dougherty of Lusby, Maryland, Thomas Dougherty of Mechanicsville, Maryland, Dana Lynn Dougherty of Lusby, Maryland; her siblings, John Linton, Jr. of Davenport, Florida, David Linton of Apoka, Florida, Vivian Parker of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Geraldine Redzensky of Lake Alford, Florida and Marliene Linton, of Davenport, Florida; and her ten (10) beloved grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am., with the Funeral Service starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, in Charlotte Hall. Interment will immediately follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601.
