Bernes Jane Martin, 81, of La Plata, MD, died December 10, 2008, at Genesis La Plata Center.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and culinary expert. She moved to this area in 1945 from Texas.

Born July 13, 1927, in Lubbock, TX, she was the daughter of the late Howard Franklin Repasz and the late Sarah Frances Turner Repasz.

She is predeceased by her parents and husband, Howard W. Martin; brothers, Bert and Jim Repasz.

She is survived by daughters, Cherie Jane and her husband Neil Nutwell of Pomfret, MD, and Linda Jane and her husband James Cecil of La Plata, MD; one brother, Tony Repasz of New Mexico; sister, Mary Repasz of New Mexico; and four grandchildren, Gary and Chad Nutwell, Dana Roberts and Carla Hall. Also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2008, from 11AM -1PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD; where the funeral service will begin at 1PM. Rev. Mark Roberson will officiate. Interment to follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at 2PM.

Pallbearers will be family members.
