Shelby Jean Howard, 69 of Mechanicsville, MD died on December 5, 2008 at Washington Hospital Center.

Born on July 21, 1939 in Jackson, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Shelton Eugie and Christine Cook Davis.

Mrs. Howard was a Secretary for International Machinist Union and Aerospace workers. Graduate of North Western High School. She has resided in this area for 9 years. Her enjoyments were boating, riding motorcycles, her Maltese dogs, and her grandchildren.

Survived by her beloved husband, Robert W. Howard, Sr., whom she married on October 16, 1999.

Also survived by her children, Carolyn L. Janicki (Michael) of Union, Kentucky, Frank Brown, Jr. (Phyllis Ann) of Olney, MD, John Brown (Michelle) of Nanjemoy, MD, Richard Brown, Sr. (Ann) of Rockville, MD, and Robert W. Howard, Jr. (Marie) of Clinton, MD, siblings, Roger Davis, Jimmy, Tommy, and Barbara Legge, and Chris Hall, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends to Celebrate Shelby's Life today, Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8PM in Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Interment will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD at a later date.
