Valarie was a life long resident of Charles County, MD. She was the first of 11 children, proudly born to James and Mary Harley. She was united in marriage to her husband, James Butler, Jr., on May 3 1969 after meeting in high school nearly five years earlier. Valarie and her husband were thrilled to raise four beautiful daughters. In 1975, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and stood firm in her bible-based beliefs until the end. A devoted wife and beloved mother and grandmother, Valarie's life revolved around family. She was a stay at home mom for the majority of her children's school years and then began a career as a Substitute Teacher and Teacher's Aide for children with special needs. She also worked at Civista Medical Center as a Medical Records Clerk. Valarie continued her role as care-giver as she proudly stayed home to make sure her grandchildren received the loving care only a grandmother could give. Loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her, she will be greatly missed and always in out thoughts.

She was the daughter of the late James Harley, Sr. and the late Mary Harley.

She is predeceased by her parents, and one brother, Kyro Harley.
