The family will recieve friends Tuesday, November 7, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home,P.A. Charles Edwin Harris, Sr., 64, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly of Oxon Hill, MD died November 2, 2006 in St. Mary's Hospital. Born April 1, 1942 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Willard Allen and Ida Mae Newton Harris, Sr. He was the loving husband of Martha Christine "Chris" Harris whom he married at the First Baptist Church in Camp Springs, MD on March 2, 1962 and was the devoted father of Charles Edwin Harris, Jr. of Hughesville, MD and Susan Lynn Warren and husband David Michael of Huntington, MD. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Jane Herbert of Colton's Point, MD and his sister-in-law Kathleen Marie Harris. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michelle Lynn Warren, Kimberly Ann Harris, Brian Michael Warren and Wesley David Warren. He is also survived by three nieces and four nephews and many other relatives and friends including Robert and Jean Johnson and Mary and Burnie Hammett. He was preceded in death by his brother Willard Allen Harris. He graduated from Oxon Hill Senior High in 1960. He moved to St. Mary's County from Oxon Hill, MD in December 1988. He was employed for thirty years as a furniture mover for Harris Movers in Oxon Hill, MD with his father. He also reconditioned pianos and tuned them. He worked as a Furniture Repairman and Upholstery for Harris Furniture for eighteen years until retirement in December 31, 2005. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 7, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. A funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 9:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. with Pastor Marvin Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Charles E. Harris, Jr., Paul G. Herbert, Kenny Harris, David Harris, Glenn Harris and Robert S. Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are David Warren and Paul Nappi.
