James Francis Janifer, affectionately known as "Francis," was born May 19, 1934 to James and Mary Corina Johnson in La Plata, Maryland.

Francis transitioned to his heavenly home on November 16, 2020 in Washington, DC. He grew up in Charles County and attended Charles County public schools. Francis married Rulby Elizabeth Keys and from this union, 10 children were born.

He worked construction as a foreman for many years. After retirement he worked at Sagepoint Senior Living Services as a transporter. Francis served as Deacon at Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church until his health began to fail. Francis enjoyed building, gardening, talking on his CB with his friends and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons; John Wayne, Richard and Gregory Keys (Janice), brothers; Frank, Edward, Richard Johnson and John Janifer, sisters, Helen Laws and grandsons; John and Ahdessa Janifer.

He leaves to treasure precious memories, wife, Rulby E. Janifer, sons; Charles, Augustus, David (Dorothy), Lloyd, Sr., (Sheila), James Jr., daughter, Elaine Bowman (Robert), Christine Proctor (Alfred), brothers; John, Tommy, Paul and William Janifer, sisters; Laurel Price, Louise Riley, Celcia Carter, Shirley, Helen, Ann, Catherine, Grace and Carrie, grandchildren; Lakessher, Alissha, Michael, Lloyd, Jr., Dorothy, Robert, Anthony, Kevin, Elvis, Saundra, Gregory, Gregner, Shawnell, Anita, Michelle, Semej, Torranda, Torleneta, special friends, Julie Posey, Alvin Johnson and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

His viewing will be held from 10am until time of service 11am on Wednesday, November 25th. Interment, Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Nanjemoy, MD.
