Edna Louise Cavey, 88, of Lusby, formerly of Sanford, NC, died surrounded by loving family on November 29, 2008 at Solomons Nursing Center.

She grew up in Sanford, NC, where she graduated from Sanford High School in 1938. She met her future husband, George Cavey, when he resided in her Aunt's boarding house. They married in 1940. Their union continued 61 years until his death in 2001.

They resided in Langley Park, MD, where they raised 5 children. She was an active member of St. Camillus Church and the Ladies Sodality. She worked many years as a telephone operator. She retired in 1983 from Lincoln Life where she worked as a claims adjuster supervisor. She retired to her hometown of Sanford where many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends still reside. As her husband became ill, they returned to Lusby to a cottage built especially for them by here daughter Peaches Poole.

During her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting and writing short stories where a few were published in the local newspaper. She also delivered meals to shut-ins for the Meals-on-Wheels program.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother of five, grandmother of fourteen, great-grandmother of fifteen, and great-great-grandmother of two.

She is survived by her children Patty "PK" Cavey (Kenneth) of Golden, CO, Agnes "Peaches" Poole of Lusby, MD, Michael Cavey (Doris) of Jessup, MD, Mary Ellen "Cita" Dorsch (Michael) of Golden, Co, and Donna Chilcoate of Beltsville, MD.
