Steven Lee Wagner, 55 of Nanjemoy, Maryland and originally of Rock Hall, Maryland, passed peacefully in his sleep on 18 Oct 2020.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Wagner of Marbury, Maryland and his grandparents Julia and Charles Parsons of Rock Hall, Maryland. He was also preceded in death by his 2 best friends whom he loved as brothers: His cousin John Riggs and his best friend, James (Jim) Beckman both of Maryland.

He leaves behind his Mother, Patricia Morris Wagner of LaPlata and his bonus Mother Joy Parsons of California. He also leaves behind his sisters: Leslie Wagner of Marbury, Maryland and Tina Wagner of Woodbridge, Virginia. His Love for you all was immeasurable.

He leaves behind a uniquely blended family of his own children. His biological son Corey Lee Wagner, whom he shared with his first wife Beverley Warrington-Wagner, both of Bryans Road, was his Pride and Joy. He always called him 'his favorite heartbeat." He also leaves behind Corey's wife Alexandra, and their son Jackson. Steve had a few nicknames, (Stevie Steve and The Hubs to name just two) but G-Pop was his absolute favorite. He adored being Jackson's G-Pop.

Steve never referred to his bonus children as 'stepchildren' they were his children. He leaves behind his daughter Brandie Cornelius and her husband Keith, son Zachary Leaman, daughter Jessica Leaman, future son-in-law Tyler Madden and daughter Carson Painter. He loved you all with everything that he was.

He had an extended family of cousins with whom he lived and grew up with as sisters and brothers: Contessa Riggs of Maryland, Julia Colbaugh of Tennessee, April Riggs of California and Charlee Riggs of Maryland. The Beckman/Stanley family were an extended network of close friends that he considered his family. He was grateful for each and every one of you.

In addition to his many, many friends and colleagues, he also leaves behind his Youghiogheny Family of which there are just too many to name. You were also his family. Every Memorial Day weekend and every Labor Day weekend, Steve and Corey were on the Yock. It was their home away from home for over 20 years. He will live eternally on Mt. Ashe.

Lastly, he leaves behind his loving wife of 8½ years, Mary Spells Wagner. Their Love Story was short, but it was filled with a lifetime of memories. Friendship, Love and Loyalty were the foundation of their marriage. They wore the Irish Claddagh as a symbol of their love and dedication to those principals, and each other.

Steve was a carpenter by trade. In his younger days he framed homes. Some of his fondest memories were stories of walking the walls of the homes he was framing as well as the antics of his youth. He continued to work as a carpenter up until his death. He loved working outside while listening to music, building sundecks, additions and anything that you could possibly build with wood. He hand-crafted wood pieces for his family and friends. For those of us lucky enough to own a Steve Wagner original, you own a piece of his soul. He put it into everything he created.

Steve wore many hats in life. He was a Son, Father, G-Pop, Bonus Dad, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, Husband and Friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the good fortune to know him.

In lieu of flowers, please make a small donation to the Charles County Humane Society in his name.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 11 AM until time of service at 12 noon.
