David D. Boyd of La Plata, Maryland passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020. He was the son of Delbert A. and Flora A. (Dubinsky) Boyd. A long-time resident of Charles County, he graduated from Lackey High School in 1974. He began his career as a civilian for the Navy in Indian Head, Maryland and retired as an Engineering Technician.

He was preceded in death by his father Delbert and brother Kevin Boyd. He is survived by his mother Flora Boyd, his wife of 30 years, Cynthia (Hardeman), son Jonathan D. Boyd with his first wife Mary, daughter Chelsea (Trevor) Coady, stepchildren John (Jennie) Pulliam, Teresa (Mark) Lail, and Lisa Pulliam, 3 grandsons and 8 step-grandchildren, brothers Gregory A. and Brian P. (Sheila) Boyd, and sister Debbie (Ray) Walden, nephews and nieces.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his interests with his wife, family, and friends. Long hikes, biking, fishing, boating, kayaking, fossil hunting, and hunting for artifacts were some of his favorites. He was especially proud of his collection of wampum and shark teeth collected from the shores of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. He loved to dabble in painting scenes of wildlife and spent many hours studying different subjects in their natural habitat.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 5 PM until time of memorial service at 6 PM.
