Helen Farrall Mitchell, 83, a lifetime resident of La Plata, died December 1, 2008 at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD

Mrs. Mitchell was born April 24, 1925 in Washington, D.C. to the late Leo K Farrall, Sr. and the late Adelaide M Farrall.

She graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1943. After graduation she was employed by the FBI in Washington, D.C. She co-founded Mitchell Supply, Inc. with her husband in 1961, held positions of secretary/treasurer and Board Member until her retirement in 1998.

Mrs. Mitchell was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in La Plata, a member of the Charles County Garden Club and active in the Eastern Building Material Dealers Association.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John D. Mitchell, Sr., her brother Leo K Farrall, Sr. and a sister, Dorothy Eleanor Cooksey.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her sons John D Mitchell, Jr. and Van T Mitchell; daughter, Cherry Mitchell Stackhouse; grandchildren, Shelly M Corcoran, John D Mitchell, III, Molly and Megan Mitchell, Norman III and John Farrall Stackhouse; three great-grandchildren and sisters, Elizabeth F Vaughan and Barbara F Baldus.

Viewing at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 3 to 7pm with prayers at 6:30 pm. Funeral Service at Sacred Heart Church in La Plata, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 9:00 am. Interment Mt. Rest Cemetery, La Plata.
