Joyce Marie Conner, 93, of La Plata, MD passed away on September 22, 2020 in Waldorf, MD.

Born on July 1, 1927 in Wagner, South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late George B. Selkirk and Katherine Margaret Selkirk (Beaulieu).

Joyce was proceeded in death by her husband of 63 years, Deacon James Conner, brother, Robert Selkirk, and nephew Gordon Selkirk.

She was a proud member of the Chippewa Indian tribe (Ojibwe), and worked for the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, for 34 years. She loved God, her family (especially the children), friends, animals, eating crabs, and traveling. She was always up for an adventure.

She is survived by nephews Kenneth Fix (Barb), Gary Fix (Anne), Robert Selkirk (Elizabeth), Charles Selkirk (Tammy) and nieces Eileen Conley, Patricia Thorne (Paul) and Denise Selkirk, brothers-in-law William Conner (Wilma), Joseph Conner (Rosemary), and sisters-in-law Ruby Tolbert and Pearl Conner. She is also survived by special friends Jane and Wayne Mullings, Bud and Sue Lawson, Lynn Watson, Dolly Christian, Henry Bussie, Rita Pacella, Frances Card, Kenny Whitehead and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren.

Joyce was a light to the world and will never be forgotten by her family and friends. The memories she made over the years are irreplaceable and her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited again with her dear husband, James and her mother and father.

Family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. Inurnment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
