Iris H. Dickerson, 87, of LaPlata, MD passed away on August 30, 2020 at the University of Charles Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 1, 1933 in Hillsville, VA to the late Charles and Naomi Leagans, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Woodie Dickerson; brother, J.D. Hicks; and sisters, Millie Marsh and Joyce Hicks. Iris leaves behind her son, Kim Dickerson; and grandchildren, Cas Dickerson and Nikki Dickerson.

Iris worked as an accountant for LaPlata Lumber. A member of LaPlata United Methodist Church, she was very active in church activities. Iris enjoyed working in her yard and playing the piano. She was very proud of her son and grandchildren. Iris will be greatly missed for her smile, upbeat spirit and perpetual caring for others. She will be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, and a great friend to everyone she met.

Interment will be held at Monta Vista Gardens (1032 Glendale Rd., Galax, VA) on Tuesday September 8, 2020. Online condolences to the family can be shared at arehartechols.com.
