![]() Cora Frances Norris Redman, 75, of Lusby MD died November 27, 2008 at her residence. Born on November 11, 1933 in Leonardtown, MD to Herbert Eugene and Mary Lucille Norris and was second to the youngest of 13 children.
Frances grew up on the family's sharecropper farm in Medley's Neck and graduated from Great Mills High School in 1951. She and her sisters commuted to Washington DC where she worked her first job as a stenographer for the Chamber of Commerce. She then worked as a secretary for various government contractors on board the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and as a Unit Secretary for St. Mary's Hospital until her retirement in December 1996. Frances was an avid reader and was especially fond of Agatha Christie mysteries. She very much enjoyed watching religious television shows and evangelical preachers, especially Joel Osteen. She attended Sunday services at both Holy Face Church in Great Mills, MD and Crossroads Christian Church in St. Leonard, MD. She was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County but moved to Lusby, MD in May 2005 to live with her eldest daughter and son-in-law. Frances married John Charles 'Buster' Redman in 1957 in Leonardtown, MD and had 5 children. She is survived by her children; son James Redman and wife Marsha of Hollywood, MD, daughter Jeanette Witkowski and husband CJ of Lusby, MD, son Jeffrey Redman of Lusby, MD, daughter Juanita Redman of California, MD, and daughter Joanne Wescott and fiancé Michael Cook of Hollywood, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren; James Redman Jr., Jonathan Wheeler, Kyle Redman, Justin Redman, Dale Redman , Kaitlyn Redman, Megan Redman, Rebecca Redman, and Samuel Wescott. Frances is also survived by her siblings; sister and dearest friend Mary Virginia Boggs Bean of Park Hall, MD, brother Joseph Elmer Norris of Chaptico, MD, sister Agnes Marie Higgs of Leonardtown, MD, and brother Charles Benedict Norris of Grand Prairie, Texas. Frances was predeceased by her husband 'Buster' Redman of Lexington Park, MD, her grandson Charles Wheeler Jr. of Lexington Park, MD, her parents Herbert Eugene and Mary Lucille Norris of Leonardtown, MD, her brothers Andrew Paul, Thomas Edward, Robert Dellie, James Allen, Herbert Eugene and Ernest Ignatius Norris, and her sisters Mary Reddehase and Alice Haley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Holy Face Church in Great Mills, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Holy Face Catholic Church, Great Mills, MD with Fr. Joseph Sileo officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Jonathan Wheeler, Kyle Redman, Justin Redman, Dale Redman and John Hardin and Molly Harings. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Norris and Steve Boggs.
