Josephine Claire Zeller Borkowski, 81, of Leonardtown, MD died November 26, 2008 at her residence.

Born June 21, 1927 in Stafford, VA she was the daughter of the late Chester Arthur Zeller and Mary Veronica (White) Zeller. Josephine was married to the late Joseph Edward Borkowski, D.D.S.

Josephine was a registered nurse. She attended Quantico High School and Georgetown University School of Nursing. She was a staff nurse at Georgetown, Mt. Alto, and National Institutes of Health as well as for the Red Cross. She was the head nurse/Assistant Director of Nursing at the Carriage Hill Skilled Care Center. Josephine also was the owner of Cardinal Gifts and Antiques in Sperryville, VA.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Planning and Community Relations Committee Board, St. Mary's County Women's Club, St. Mary's Garden Club, St. Mary's Horticultural Study Group, Porcelain Painters Club of Virginia, Palate China Painter's Club, World China Painters, Rotary International, Friends of St. Mary's City, Red Cross, and Christmas in April. She was also a master gardener and an international porcelain art teacher.

Josephine is survived by her children; Anne Marie Borkowski of Tyngsboro, MA, Joseph M. Borkowski of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Edward Borkowski of Alexandria, VA and David J.Borkowski of Bethesda, MD, two grandchildren, siblings; Mary Beaven of Pomfret, MD, and Chester Zeller of Sarasota, FL.

Family received friends on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Prayers were recited at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD. Father Rory Conley was the celebrant. Inurnment followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
