Joseph "Glenn" Mattingly, 63, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly from Clinton, MD passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2020. He was born on February 14, 1957 in Leonardtown, MD and was the son of the late Patricia Ann Mattingly and Joseph Herman Mattingly. Glenn is survived by the love of his life Cheri Ann Alderson of Mechanicsville, MD. His children; Jennifer Irizarry (Luis) of Indian Head, MD, step children Ashlee Higgs of Mechanicsville, MD, Shane Alderson of Bushwood, MD, Mikie Alderson of Manassas, VA, and four grandchildren, who called him "PaPa Joe". He is survived by his brother Robert Dale Mattingly of Colton's Point, MD. He attended Surrattsville High School.

Glenn shared his father's love of fast cars and the family tradition of being a professional truck driver. After 45 years of dedication to his profession, he retired from Mattingly Trucking in 2017.

In his free time, Glenn enjoyed watching various sports. His favorites included NASCAR, Redskins football and the Washington Nationals. Finally, after many years, he was able to experience the excitement of the World Series Championship win by the Nationals. Though Glenn was an avid sports lover, he was the biggest (and loudest) fan when watching his grandson play baseball. Aside from sports, one of his simple pleasures was cutting the grass! Glenn also took pride in detailing his vehicles and parading around town showing off his hard work. Glenn had a sincere love and appreciation for all genres of music, but his favorite of all was Elvis Presley.

Glenn would often reminisce of the memories made throughout the years. His family and friends were the pride and joy of his life as he is survived by a host of beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Father Stephen Wyble officiating. He will be laid to rest following the funeral service in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Mattingly, Bill Mattingly, Luis Irizarry, Junior Farrell, Stephan Weaver, and Shane Alderson.

Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. Leonardtown, MD.
