Joanne Beard Jones, of Dunkirk, MD was called home to the Lord on July 22, 2020 at the age of 83. What an exceptional woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt she was. To know Joanne was to love her. Her smile and positive attitude affected all who knew her.

Born in Baltimore, MD daughter of Hilda Hoover Beard and Karlton Beard.

Joanne grew up in Round Bay, Severna Park, MD attending and graduating from Saint Mary's High School in Annapolis, Class of 1955. She continued her education at the University of Maryland before she started work at the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company in Annapolis. There she met Phillip E. Jones and they got married in January of 1960. They were married for 54 years when he passed in 2014. Together they had a daughter and two sons.

Joanne and Phillip moved to Bowie, MD in 1964. It was there that they settled in and raised their family. Joanne was a parishioner and active volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bowie, MD. She led an active social life, enjoyed playing bridge, loved spending time with her friends and going on vacations with her family. Her proudest achievements along with her children were her three grandsons. They were her true joy and inspiration.

Beloved mother of Leslie Anne Lumsden of Edgewater, MD, Evan B. Jones (Sara Jones) of Reston, VA and Brian Jones (Denise Petrusic) of Columbia MD; loving Grandmother of Brendan Lumsden, Thomas Lumsden and Ryan Lumsden; Great Grandma of April Lumsden. In addition to her husband, the late Phillip Edward Jones, Joanne was also predeceased by her parents and sister.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joanne may be directed to the Burnett Calvert Hospice House, 4559 Sixes Rd, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.

NEW GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING VISITATION / SERVICES.
- 50 to 75 people max at any given time in Funeral Home.
- Limit visitation to 15 minutes in visitation room to allow for others to express their condolences.
- Funeral Services in Chapel limited to 70 people with four (4) people per pew.
- Masks and six foot social distancing still applies.
