William Donald Garris (Bill) passed away on July 1st, 2020 at the age of 71. Bill was born in Chester, Pa. December 23rd, 1948 to Hilda June (Porter) Garris and William Joseph Garris.
He grew up in Twin Oaks, Pa. and graduated from Chichester high school class of 1967. After graduation he was drafted and served four years in the US Army before receiving an honorable discharge. He went to work for Metro Transit Authority in October of 1979 and retired in July of 2011.

Bill and Dorothea (Dee) Price met in high school, married in 1971, and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this August. Their first family home was in New Carrolton, Maryland where they lived with their three children until 1993. Bill was very involved in the community and served on the pool board. In 1993 the family moved to Shores of Calvert in Calvert County Maryland where they are still residents.

Bill could often be found at the community river front where he loved to visit with his many friends and neighbors in "the shores". He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and shared a love for the Washington Capitals with his family. A devoted husband and father he always put his family first. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren as well as their close friends Debbie and Charlie Bolton. Bill also enjoyed cooking and serving his famous oyster stuffing at the holidays. Having the family over for crabs and watching his grandchildren play in the pool was his favorite summer activity.

Beloved husband of Dee Garris. Devoted father of Heather (Jeff) Garris Heath of Huntingtown, Md., Amy Garris of Gaithersburg, Md., and Mike (Heather) Garris of Dunkirk, Md. Loving Pop Pop of Kendall Heath, Olivia Heath, Braden Heath, and Savannah Garris. Dear brother of Linda Stephens and James Garris, both of Delaware, Brother-in-law to Arnold Price, John and Sandy Price, Carol and Jimmy Rayne and predeceased by his parents and his brother David Garris. Loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of a funeral service Bill will be honored during a Private Celebration of Life to be held at the Shores of Calvert river front. We know this is exactly what Bill would want.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a donation in his memory may do so to a trust fund established for our grandchildren. Donations may be sent to Edward Jones, 3140 W. Ward Rd. Suite#108, Dunkirk, Md. 20754. Checks may be written out to "Edward Jones for Garris grandchildren".
