Leonard Woodrow "Woody" Hill, 90, of Leonardtown, MD peacefully passed away on July 2, 2020 at Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons, MD. He was born May 24, 1930 in Leonardtown, MD to the late Hillary Hill and Lillian Pilkerton Hill.

In 1943, Woody pursued his passion for farming and was known throughout Southern Maryland for his "custom work". He managed Rosecroft and Cove Farm throughout the 1950's and 1960's. He was known for raising corn, soybean, tobacco, cattle and hogs.

In 1970, he moved to Calvert County and began a career as a heavy equipment operator with Morgan E. Russell. He retired as a foreman after 25 years of service. Many of the roads and subdivisions we travel through in Calvert today were built by Woody.

He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, crabbing, and oystering. He was especially known for his ability to catch soft crabs in the St. Mary's River. Woody was also a skilled carpenter who built many tobacco barns throughout the county. He was also a long time member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in North Beach, Maryland, where he became a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was Grand Knight in the late 1980's.

His true passion in life was his wife and family. Woodrow married his beloved wife, Carla Naomi Hill. Together they celebrated over 69 years of marriage. Upon retirement Woody and Carla spent 27 of their golden years in Melbourne, Florida.

In addition to his wife, Woodrow is also survived by his children: Beverly Ann Wootton (Greg) of Kenya, Africa, Ronald Hill (Jan) of Sunderland, MD, and Richard Hill (Crystal) of St. Leonard, MD; his siblings: Michael "Mickey" Hill, Tom Hill, Ellen Hewitt, Sandy Mae Guy, Kathleen Hindt, Rie-Rie Long, Audi Sydnor, Millie Ann Hall, Edna Thompson and Patsy Wood; his grandchildren: Isaac Wootton, Israel"Biz" Wootton, Ahava Wootton, Kezia Wootton, Tehelia Wootton, Kellee Lucas, Alana Hill, and Arika Hill; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
