Marvin DaVaughn Banks, age 48 of Mechanicsville, Maryland departed this life on June 19, 2020. Born on November 5, 1971 in Leonardtown, Maryland, he was the son of Helen Theresa Briscoe and Walter Swales, Sr. He attended St. Mary's County Public Schools, graduating from Leonardtown High School, Class of 1990.



Marvin held numerous jobs throughout his life, most current being an Oscar employee with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace and St. Mary's County Department of Social Services.



Marvin had a heart of gold. He was a humble, genuine, and lovable person to all that he encountered. He loved hanging with the guys in his spare time, shopping, and loved his watches and hats. Last, but not least, he enjoyed antique cars, and attending Car Shows with his brother, Lamont and Craig Queen. The boy was a Die-Hard Dallas Fan.



Marvin was preceded in death by stepdad, George Briscoe, and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Banks.



He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories with his son, Deontae Banks; mother, Helen Briscoe; father, Walter Swales, Sr.; brothers, Lamont Briscoe, Walter Swales, Jr. (Summer Joi) and Javarus Swales; sisters, Kia Weems (Damian), Michelle Briscoe; Godchildren, A'Nyla Banks and Kilem Hillian; grandmother, Alice Swales; step-sisters, Katurah Baker and Mikita Miles; companion, Latisha Hill and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.



Visitation will begin at 10 am until time of service at 12 noon on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.
