Thomas Phillip Veness (34) of Waldorf, Maryland, born August 31, 1985, passed June 12, 2020. He is survived and loved by his wife Danielle, two daughters Thalia Mae and Kara Grace, Jean Veness (Mother), and Josh Lomask (Brother).

Thomas was a devoted patriot and citizen, serving proudly as a United States Marine from 2004 to 2012, deploying on three separate occasions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 2nd Battalion 8th Marines, Fox Company. Thomas continued his service in the Army National Guard with the 430th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, deploying in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel to Afghanistan. Simultaneously, Thomas earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from Old Dominion University, using his academic and military experience to aid weapons research in between military duties.

Thomas was an avid hockey fan and player. This was shared by his family, imparting a wonderful passion for the ice to his oldest daughter Thalia. Kara was a cherished and joyous addition into their lives. Thomas deeply loved his wife, daughters, and country. He is immensely missed by all.

The family will receive friends on Friday June 26, 2020 from 2 to 5 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, LaPlata, MD) Interment will be at a later date.
