Helen Louise Remaley, age 91, died November 19, 2008 at Calvert County Nursing Center, Prince Frederick, MD.

She was born Helen Louise Homer in a small village near Pittsburgh, PA, where she was raised and educated. She was a graduate of Loch Haven Pennsylvania Teachers College, and received her M.S. in Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. She taught in the Montgomery County School system. She was married to Charles Remaley for nineteen years until his death due to a heart attack in 1956.

During her 42 year working career, she enjoyed spent most of her summers in New Hampshire near New London and Lake Sunapee. After her retirement from the Montgomery County School system in 1978, Helen enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, especially history, and other adult education and senior activities. Travel also became her hobby, and she enjoyed trips to Southern Maryland, the Eastern Shore, Canada, Mexico and Europe. She visited the town of Bishop Aukland, England, where her mother was born, and visited the grave of St. Patrick in Ireland.

She is survived by her son Roger Remaley, Sr. and her daughter-in-law Beverly of Sunderland, MD; grandchildren Roger Remaley, Jr., Janine and Yvette Mannas and Joseph Bliffin; great-grandchildren Danielle Brandt, Mary Young, and Meghan and Matthew Mannas; and great-great-grandsons Jack and Jason Pierce. Services will be private.
