Jorge Luis O'Neil was born August 2, 1983, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to Santa Monica Nunez. Jorge passed away in his home on May 29, 2020.

He came to the United States when he was 15 years old, and attended Creston High School, in Grand Rapids, MI., where he enjoyed grading his classmates' papers with a red pen. During high school, he joined the JROTC program and graduated in 2003. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a Helicopter Avionics Technician, and served a tour in Kosovo. After 4 years in the military, Jorge attended Western Michigan University and received his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering and later received his Master of Engineering degree in Systems Engineers from Colorado State University. In 2010, Jorge began his engineering career at Navair, and was promoted in 2018 to serve as the Mission Systems T & E Support and Analysis Branch Manager. Jorge, being a visionary started his own property management company, Serene Path, in 2016.

In 2012, he pursued Ashley Wilburn, and they became husband and wife, on May 18, 2014, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Honoring his catholic faith, they wed again on July 12, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, DC. On May 2, 2016, their son, Vinson Carter O'Neil was born. After the passing of Vinson, Jorge and Ashley held steadfast to their vows: "to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, and in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part". On April 3, 2019, God blessed them with a rainbow baby, Kolin Zavier O'Neil.

Jorge was a man of honesty, integrity and a "little" bit of stubbornness. But more than anything, he loved his family and would do anything to protect them. Jorge loved traveling, history, watching documentaries, adventures and bean pies. He also loved mentoring young men, especially young black boys. On his final day here on earth, he spent a few hours mentoring a young male who has dreams of becoming an engineer.

Jorge leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Ashley and son, Kolin; his mother; Santa Monica Nunez, in-laws; Mr. and Mrs. Omar Alston; Godmother, Wilhemina Wright, best friend of 20 years, Gary Miller, and a host of family and friends. Jorge was preceded in death by his godfather and mentor, William "Polk" Wright and son, Vinson Carter O'Neil.
