Barry Lee Moreland, 57, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2020, after a courageous cancer battle.

He was born on November 10, 1962 in Leonardtown, Maryland to Stewart Moreland and Ann (Hayden) Moreland of Mechanicsville, MD.

Barry was a fun-loving, charismatic man who cherished his family above all. He worked hard as a truck driver starting at Metrex and ending with Safeway, and loved driving his rigs. He met many wonderful friends and "family" throughout his travels. He especially loved spending time with family in Maryland, Florida, and Delaware. Barry cherished these special times with his family and relaxing together to keep the family close.

A prankster through his core, Barry loved to laugh and play practical jokes. His laugh was contagious and smile infectious. The life of the party, ready for a good time with a Bud Light in one hand and arm wrapped around a friend, Barry made life better. He enjoyed NASCAR in the spring and summer and Redskin football in the fall and winter.

An avid sportsman, Barry enjoyed participating in Turkey Shoots at the Moose Lodge and VFW's. Barry was an active member of the Sons of American Legion Post 238 in Hughesville and the Moose Lodge Mechanicsville #495. He considered the other members family and spent time listening to music, playing KENO and hanging out with friends.

Barry was a good man, loving son, supportive brother, and amazing friend. A big teddy bear with a twinkle in his eye and a special grin on his face. One thing is for sure, you could always count on him in times of need.

As the days grow long and you connect with family and friends, know that Barry is with you. Smile bright, laugh loud and embrace each day.

Barry is survived by his parents, Stewart and Ann Moreland of Mechanicsville, MD; siblings, Tony Moreland (Shirley) of Sorrento, FL and Sylvia Welch (Johnny) of Mechanicsville, MD; and niece, Krystal Aud (Darren) of Sorrento, FL; nephew, Tony Moreland, Jr. (Rebecca) of Mechanicsville, MD and great nephews and nieces, Hayden, Reagen, Dale and Kinsley. Barry was preceded in death by his great niece, Karli Aud.

The family will receive friends for a Barry's Life Celebration on Sunday, May 31, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Prayer Service will be heard at 3:00 p.m. and officiated by Deacon Bill Kyte also at Brinsfield Funeral Home, Charlotte Hall, MD. Interment will be private.
