Carolyn M "Judy" Goddard Bakewell, 72, of Leonardtown departed this life on Saturday, May 2, 2020 in Leonardtown MD. Judy was born on July 20, 1947 to the late Leonard "Bill" Goddard and Margaret Goddard in Leonardtown, MD.

In 1966 Judy was a member of the 1st graduating class of Chopticon High School. Right after graduation Judy began her long career working for the Department of the Navy at Patuxent River where she retired in March 2, 2003.

Judy was a loving Mom, Wife, Grammy, Great-Grammy, Aunt, Great-Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She loved and adored her son Chris and was so proud of him. She spent many days at the baseball field watching him play ball as a child and as he got older she spent many nights at the track getting her hands dirty and watching him race cars. Upon her retirement she stayed busy watching her two grandsons Zach and Nick Raley. Grammy loved her grandchildren they were her pride and joy. From the day they were born she began watching them, getting them on and off the bus, attending all their school events, football, basketball and soccer games as her life revolved around them. Grammy spoiled her grandchildren, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and even the Tooth Fairy had nothing on Grammy she would out do them all. Those who knew Judy knew her grandchildren as she was always talking about them and posting pictures.

Judy enjoyed traveling over the years with her husband Tom. They were frequent flyers to Las Vegas as Judy loved going to the live music and comedy shows. Her and Tom took many trips together and enjoyed seeing all the sites. In her younger years she loved playing softball, she loved to dance and laugh and could party with the best of them. She looked forward to the regular gatherings with the Pennies Gang of ladies for lunch, conversation and lots of laughter. Judy also loved to golf and after a longtime off was starting to play golf again. She like her brother Billy loved many of the members at Breton Bay.

Judy was born and raised in St. Mary's County. She loved her county and the people in it. Judy knew everybody and everybody knew Judy. Judy never held back, she was tough, she was a fighter, she spoke her mind and would tell you like it was. She had a big heart and touched so many of us with a lasting impression that will never be forgotten.

Judy is survived by her husband Tom Bakewell of Leonardtown. Her son Christopher A Raley (Jennifer) of Hollywood, Richard Bakewell (Carol) of Mechanicsville, Robert Bakewell of Colton's Point, brother Leonard Zeller (Peg) of Pittsboro, NC, granddaughter Brianna Foster of Leonardtown, grandsons Zachary and Nicholas Raley of Hollywood, great-grandson Dawson Smith of Leonardtown, nephews Shawn Goddard of Leonardtown and Leonard M Goddard III of LaPlata.
