There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of The Wayside Catholic Church in Chaptico, with Fr.Timothy Baer officiating. Interment will follow in the Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Contributions may be made to the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad P.O. Box 15 Mechanicsville, MD 20659.

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, where prayers will be said at 6:30 PM.

James Eugene "Jim" Shook, 67, of Mechanicsville, MD died November 18, 2006 in Mechanicsville, MD. Born May 7, 1939 in Johnstown, PA he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Eleanor Snyder Shook. He was the loving husband of Joyce Ann Pilkerton Shook whom he married in Chaptico, MD on January 23, 1965. He is survived by his children: James R. Shook and his wife Tammy of Hollywood, MD and Sandra A. Radcliff and her husband Greg of LaPlata, MD; brother: Fred Shook of AZ and grandchildren: Candace and Amanda Radcliff. He was preceded in death by his brother: Ronald R. Shook.

Mr. Shook graduated from Cambria High School Class of 1957 and attended Northern Virginia College for 2 years. He moved to St. Mary's County in May of 1973 and was the Senior Vice President of Bank of Southern Maryland for 15 years until his retirement on March 31, 2002. He also worked at the Maryland National Bank for 13 ½ years. He enjoyed fishing, horticulture, singing, playing his guitar and being with his family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. Timothy Baer officiating.

Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Harold Insley, Lawrence Pilkerton, Stanley Pilkerton, Joseph Pilkerton, Anthony Pilkerton and Timothy Quade. Honorary Pallbearers will be brother in-laws: Michael Farr and Paul Redman.
