John Michael "Mike" Mandeville, 75, of Mechanicsville, Md. departed this life on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Mike was born on January 25, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Bernard John Mandeville and Mary Louise (Fetters) Mandeville.

After graduating from Clemson University in 1968, Mike enlisted in the United States Army. He served 15 months in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1970. After returning home, he began searching for job opportunities. He eventually made the move to the Washington, DC area, where he accepted a position with the Federal Government.

On June 7,1975, he married Patricia Marie (Scheungrab) Mandeville and they spent almost forty-five (45) years happily married. They welcomed three (3) kind, strong and respectful sons.

Mike worked for the Government until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement, he and Pat relocated to St. Mary's County and Mike took a part-time job at the Target Store in LaPlata. During the ten (10) years he worked there he was affectionately known as "Mr. Mike".

Mike was a hardworking and devoted family man. His world revolved around his wife, sons and grandchildren. An active father, he spent many nights and weekends working with his sons with all of their Boy Scout activities. He was their "go to" guy for help with their math homework, the official school report typist and a faithful presence at their sports practices and games. He enjoyed bowling and had belonged to a number of leagues over the years. Mike was a gardener with a green thumb. He grew everything from vegetables to berry bushes to fruit trees, but, by far, his greatest enjoyment came from tending to his yard and his many flower beds. He found comfort in working outdoors under the blue sky.

Whether you knew him as Mike, Dad, or Grandpa, you knew his commitment to his family. He may be gone, but his legacy of honor, strength and hard-working ways will be carried on and duplicated for many generations. Mike will be missed by many, but none as much as his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Mandeville; children, Christopher M. Mandeville (Michelle) of Thurmont, Md., Jason M. Mandeville (Maria) of Mechanicsville, Md. and John D. Mandeville (Will) of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren, Madalyn, Jacob, Josephine and Mariella. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas "Tom" Mandeville of Spotsylvania, VA, Edwin "Ed" Mandeville of Olympia, WA and William "Bill" Mandeville (Carly) of Leavenworth, KS. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Mandeville.

At this time all services will be private. Pallbearers will be Chris, Jason and John Mandeville, Bob Scheungrab, Jules Greenwell and Allan Canter.
