Douglas Paul Hubenschmidt, 77, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully on April 9, 2020 at UM Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, MD resulting from a brain trauma. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Born on May 27, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, Doug was the son of the late Lorraine Badley Rush and Joseph Paul Hubenschmidt.

Doug was raised in St. Louis and joined the United States Air Force in 1960 after graduating high school. He was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base and met the love of his life, Bev, at a USO dance. They were married for 55 wonderful years. Doug retired from the U.S. Department of Labor as a Systems Analyst.

Doug is survived by his wife, Beverly Hubenschmidt. Together they had one daughter, Debra Lynn Stergar (Glenn) of Hughesville, and two sons, Michael James Hubenschmidt (Angela) of Waldorf, and Steven Paul Hubenschmidt (Heather) of Mechanicsville. Doug was "Pop Pop" to nine amazing grandchildren: Kaitlyn Stergar, Kristin Stergar, Samantha Schramm (Sean), Amanda Hubenschmidt, Jamie Hubenschmidt, Aaron Hubenschmidt, Amber Hubenschmidt, Steven D. Hubenschmidt, Austin Brown, and great-grandson, Erik Schramm. Doug is also survived by his sister, Valerie Jean Kinealy (Jack, deceased), and nephew, Kevin Scott Goins (deceased).

Doug was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and driving his golf cart. More than anything, he loved his family and spending time together for family get togethers.

Due to the Corona virus pandemic all services will be private. A celebration of life will be held on a later date at Real Life Wesleyan Church, Mechanicsville, MD.
