Carol Lee Hamilton, 72, of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, April 10, 2020 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 28, 1947 in Washington, D.C. to the late William Albert Higgs, Sr. and Alberta Higgs Moye. Carol was one of seven (7) children and loved her big family.

Carol married the love of her life, George Wayne Hamilton in 1968. Together they celebrated over fifty-two (52) years of wedded bliss.

She was a strong, caring and loving woman who adored her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Family was the most important thing to Carol and she made sure they all knew how much she cared for them.

Carol was a simple woman with a heart of gold. She enjoyed going out to eat and taking walks with her friends. She looked forward to taking her yearly family vacation to the beach. Spending time with her husband, kids and grandchildren made her feel blessed. She especially had a close bond with her daughter, Heather and grandson, Matthew.

She will be missed by many but none as much as her family. Carol was a sweet woman who cherished the simple gestures. As you see the setting sun, know she is smiling down upon you and if you listen closely you will hear her whispered "I love you" carried on the gentle breeze.

Carol is survived by her husband, George Wayne Hamilton of Waldorf; children, Brian Wayne Hamilton, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Heather Lee Simmons of Lusby, MD and step-daughter, Tina Marie Marks of North Beach, MD; two (2) grandchildren Taylor, Matthew and one (1) step-grandchild, Cameron. She also is survived by several siblings, James R. Higgs, of Edgewater, FL, Thomas Higgs of Shippensburg, PA, Judy Smith of Waldorf, MD, Linda Bowers of Crownsville, MD and Robin Keen of Berwyn Heights, MD. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother William Alberts Higgs, Jr.

At this time, all services are private. The family will be having a Life Celebration for Carol at a later date.
