Josephine Robey Martin, 92, of Huntingtown passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on February 14, 2020 at the Burnett-Calvert Hospice House. Josephine was born on June 24, 1927 in Washington, D.C. to Grover C. and Annie (Middlecoff) Robey. Josephine was one of 17 children, which included five sets of twins. Josephine was a homemaker for her family but was also a babysitter for anyone that asked. She loved children, especially babies. She was Mama Jo to some and Granny to many.

Josephine was a long-time volunteer at the Ladies of Charity Food Pantry in North Beach, Maryland, up until she became ill in May. She was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals. She was happy to see the Nationals win their first World Series in 2019. Other hobbies included crocheting and cooking. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Martin, sons Timmie and Michael Martin, granddaughter Lisa Swann, and 15 of her siblings. Josephine is survived by her children, Gerri (Dana) Brewer of Shallotte, NC, Carol Swann (Dave Wilson) of Owings, MD, Lois (Donald) Canada of Huntingtown, MD, Celie (Skip) Stortzum of Myrtle Beach, SC, Mary (Steve) Lear of Gettysburg, PA, and Charlie (Debbie) Martin of Huntingtown, MD, grandchildren Tracy Gallagher, Sharon Dobson, Laura Hurst, Kim Canada, Michelle Swann, Joey Gegor, Jamie Palmer, Donnie Canada, Christine Martin, Mikey Martin, and Jessica Palmer, and her great-grandchildren Melissa, Ryan, and Emily Brown, Jordan Hernandez, Zack Dobson, Jack Gallagher, Jenna Dobson, Grayson Gegor, Josephine and Lincoln Palmer, Colton Canada, Mikey Martin III, and Maddie Canada. Josephine is also survived by her twin sister, Genevieve Ahern, and numerous nieces and nephews.
