Samuel Webster Vernon, 81, of White Plains, MD departed this life on January 24, 2020 at his home. Sam was born September 24, 1938 in Waldorf, Maryland. He was the son of the late John Samuel Vernon and Grace Elizabeth (Hamilton) Vernon.

Sam was a caring dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent his life working hard as a machinist for Berretta, USA. He retired and continued working at the Farmer's Market in Charlotte Hall, MD. He enjoyed yard work and helping anyone who needed help.

He enjoyed a day outdoors. He found peace sitting on the bank of a pond fishing or a day spent in the woods. He was an avid hunter of rabbit, squirrels and deer. He grew up on a farm working in tobacco fields and was always competitive with his siblings and cousins. He was spirited and passionate man who collected knick-knacks and memorabilia. He always found a new treasure while he spent his Saturday's at the Market.

Whether you knew him as Sam, Dad, Grandpa, or PopPop, you knew his commitment to his family. The legacy of honor, strength and hard-work he projected will be carried on and duplicated for generations. He will be missed by many, but none as much as his family.

Sam is survived by his daughters, Susan D. Vernon-Howell of Waldorf, MD and Patricia M. Vernon-Rusher of California, MD; and two (2) granddaughters, Brittany M. Klock (Steve) of California, MD and Melanie N. Melvin (Andrew) of California, MD; and two (2) great-grandchildren, Brayden & Jason Klock; and his brother, Charles Vernon of Accokeek, MD. Along with his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his siblings, Clark, Richard "Spike", Elsie and May.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a Visitation, with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will be private. Arrangements by the Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., Charlotte Hall, MD.
