Nellie Elizabeth Robey, 90, of Leonardtown, MD passed away peacefully at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital on January 6, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Nellie was born on September 18, 1929 in Greene County, Tennessee to the late Joseph Arthur Richards and Martha Way.
Nellie met her best friend and forever love, Joseph Munn Robey and they built a beautiful and loving family. Together their love produced five (5) children, which grew to a family with thirteen (13) grandchildren and eleven (11) great-grandchildren.
She was a wonderful woman who loved her family. Nellie enjoyed gardening and loved to cook with her fresh vegetables. Spending time outside was a beautiful way for her to spend an afternoon, she loved to watch the birds and listen to their sweet songs. Poetry and crafting kept her busy on days when the weather kept her inside. Nellie appreciated self-expression with art being a favored pastime.
Her bright smile and quick wit will be dearly missed. To know Nellie was to know a kind, loving soul. Memories of her inherent joy will last a lifetime for her family.
Nellie is survived by her children, Steven Robey, of Lexington Park, MD, Sharon Gallagher of Beverly Hills, FL, and Sandra Edinger of Mechanicsville, MD; thirteen (13 grandchildren; and eleven (11) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Munn Robey, son, Michael Robey and daughter, Debra F. Davis; and siblings, James Richards, Paul Richards, and Ada Ruth Lantz.
The family will receive friends for Nellie's Visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Dr. Maria Kane at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A family gathering will take place on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. before processing to St. Paul's Piney Church, 4535 Piney Church Road, Waldorf, MD 20602 for a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.
