Mary Annette Downs Guy, 88 of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on October 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD.

Born March 22, 1920 in Leonardtown, Maryland she was the daughter of the late James W. and Agnes L. Raley Downs.

Mrs. Guy was a Switchboard Operator for St. Mary's Hospital for over 23 years, she retired in 1982.

She is survived by her children; Margaret (Peggy) Fortner of Taylorsville, NC, James W. Guy of Leonardtown, MD and Joan Raley Guy of Tustin, CA, sisters; Dorothy Hall and Virginia Gray both of Leonardtown, MD, also survived by 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Guy was preceded in death by her husband James Neary Guy, three sisters; Sister Bernice Downs, Catherine Madel and Ethel Hitte, one brother James Raley Downs and three grandchildren..

Family received friends on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 5pm to 8pm in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Father John Dakes, pastor of the church will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Ralph Heard, Johnny Heard, David Fortner, Mark Fortner, Mike Fortner and Peter Cornellier. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Burch and Darrell Guy.
