William Dean Crutchfield Sr., 82, of Bel Alton, Maryland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 15, 2019, at Genesis Healthcare, La Plata Center. Fondly known as "Crutch", Mr. Crutchfield was born on June 25, 1937, in San Diego, California to the late Ila Lucille (Ravine) Crutchfield and William Jackson Crutchfield. He served in the U. S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division and was Honorably Discharged in 1960. For over 23 years, Mr. Crutchfield worked for the Charles County Sheriff's Office until his retirement in 1998 as a Communications Supervisor. He was an avid fisherman who made his own lures and participated in many bass fishing tournaments. Mr. Crutchfield was also a successful Little League Coach for Charles County, with many winning seasons.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Emma Ruth Crutchfield; sons William Dean Crutchfield Jr. and his wife Terri, Eric Ross Crutchfield and his wife Barbara; brothers Jack Carter Crutchfield and Carl Ray Crutchfield; grandchildren Erica R. Metcalf and her husband Jonathan G. Metcalf, Nicole L. Crutchfield and her fiancé Matthew D. Lokitis, Catalina E. Crutchfield, William R. Crutchfield and his girlfriend Allison Will; great-grandchildren Earie Rico and Logan Metcalf.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 6 PM to 8 PM with Memorial Service at 7 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at 1:45 PM at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623, with a procession leaving the funeral home at 12:45 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Healthcare, La Plata Center, 1 Magnolia Drive, La Plata, MD 20646.
