![]() Homer (George) L. Sudduth Jr., 79, of Port Orange passed away at 9:58 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the Halifax Medical Center-Port Orange.
A memorial service will be held at the Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange on Monday, October 27th. Greeting time will be from 2-3 p.m. with an American Legion ceremony to follow. George was born on October 12, 1929, in Atlanta, GA. He was the son of Homer L. and Myrtle (Brooks) Sudduth, Sr. and was united in marriage to Mildred McCauley on June 11, 1949. George served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict and retired from the U.S. Park Police, Horse Mounted Division in 1969. He was a member of American Legion Post 270 in Port Orange and a 30-year "very" active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he was lovingly referred to as "Grumpy" George. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and spent his entire life caring for his family and helping others in need. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Mildred; daughter: Lynn (husband Vernon) Crable of Mayo, Maryland; son: Christopher Sudduth of Mayo, Maryland; brothers: Robert Sudduth, Charles Ledbetter; sister: Nancy Ledbetter, all of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Aaron Sudduth, Brooke Sandage, Haley Sudduth, and Heidi Cox; and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange. |
